The controller of your data
The Aircraft Ledger is operated by Magic Lagoon Ltd, 71–75 Shelton Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9JQ, United Kingdom. For the personal data described here, we are the controller under the UK GDPR.
Questions about this policy, or any request about your data, go to [email protected].
Four kinds of data
We do not ask for special category data, and we do not knowingly collect data from anyone under 18.
Purpose and lawful basis
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for automated decision-making that has legal effects on you.
Where a tail can become personal data
Our reports are built from position data that aircraft broadcast publicly, and from public civil aircraft registers. That material is about aircraft, not about you.
We recognise that where a registration is held by a named individual, information about that aircraft’s movements may also be personal data about them. We process it on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing pre-purchase transparency in the aircraft market, and we limit that processing accordingly: we report at the level of tails, movements and patterns, never named passengers, and we do not build profiles of individuals or offer surveillance of a named person.
Processors, and nobody else
We use a small set of suppliers to run the service. Each acts on our instructions under a written processing agreement:
We will also disclose data where the law requires it, to protect our rights, or to a buyer if the business is sold — in which case this policy travels with it. We publish the current supplier list on request.
Retention
Data leaving the UK
Our infrastructure is hosted in the UK and the EEA. Where a supplier processes data outside those regions, we rely on UK adequacy regulations or on the International Data Transfer Addendum to the EU standard contractual clauses, with a transfer risk assessment on file. You can ask us for the details.
Two categories, one of them optional
Strictly necessary cookies keep you signed in, hold your basket and protect the forms from abuse. They are set without consent because the service cannot work without them.
Analytics cookies are set only if you accept them, and you can change your mind at any time from the cookie settings link in the footer. We run no advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.
What you can ask us to do
Under the UK GDPR you may ask for a copy of your data, correction of anything wrong, deletion, restriction of processing, portability, or you may object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing rests on consent, you can withdraw it at any time.
Email [email protected]. We reply within one month and will not charge you for it. We may ask you to confirm your identity first.
