About · evidence, calculations and limitations
Calculated values are labelled separately from directly observed movements. Every inference carries the observations, assumptions, confidence and limitations that support it.
The Aircraft Ledger
Operating-history intelligence for private aircraft, built from observed activity rather than the listing sheet.

What we do
We read directly from ADS‑B position broadcasts — the same signal air traffic control uses to see an aircraft — and resolve it into routes, sectors, utilisation, and the change in operating pattern over time.
Our flagship product, TailCheck, produces a single-aircraft operating report for buyers, brokers and technical teams running pre-purchase diligence. It complements a technical records review and pre-purchase inspection — it does not replace them.
01
Enter a registration and confirm there is enough observed history to support a report, at no cost.
02
The observed track is resolved into flights, sectors and patterns, then checked against the wider fleet.
03
A web report with findings, confidence statements, evidence gaps and the records worth requesting next.
The method
No analyst sits between the evidence and the report
01
Current and previous registrations are linked to an airframe or serial number only where the match is defensible. Unresolved changes remain visible.
02
Duplicate observations are reconciled before routes and activity are calculated.
03
Origins and destinations are assembled from detected movement evidence; incomplete sectors are not silently completed.
04
Movement density and sector duration support estimated utilisation. Observations are not converted into verified technical hours or cycles.
05
Periods with materially weaker evidence are marked and carried into confidence and limitations.
06
A finding retains its observations, calculation or inference type, confidence, limitations and recommended follow-up.
07
No analyst or manual review sits between the evidence and the report. Every finding is generated by this methodology, consistently, for every aircraft.
08
Movement data is refreshed daily. A report reflects the evidence available as of its generation date, shown in the report header — it is not retroactively updated.
Where the line sits
Every report states its evidence gaps and confidence level explicitly, and points to the questions worth asking a seller or their maintenance provider before you proceed.

It cannot establish
Important boundary
TailCheck cannot establish mechanical condition, maintenance quality, structural condition or airworthiness without the relevant technical records and inspection.
