Information, not advice
The Aircraft Ledger publishes operating-history intelligence for private aircraft. Our reports describe activity we have observed from broadcast flight data and public registry records. They are provided for information only.
Nothing we publish is legal, financial, tax, insurance, airworthiness or engineering advice, and nothing in a report is a substitute for a pre-purchase inspection, a records audit, or a professional appraisal. Decisions about buying, financing, insuring or operating an aircraft remain yours.
A record of observed activity
A TailCheck report sets out what the tracked record shows for one registration over a stated window: movements we observed, how continuous the coverage was, and the patterns our analysts consider material.
A report is not:
Where a report characterises activity, that characterisation is our analytical opinion on the evidence available at the time of writing.
Where the evidence comes from
Our analysis is built from sources including:
Broadcast coverage is uneven by its nature. Receiver density, terrain, altitude, transponder configuration, privacy programmes and registration changes all create gaps and occasional errors. We state the coverage level for every tail so that you can judge the weight of the evidence yourself.
We do not warrant that a report is complete, accurate or free from error, and figures derived from observed data are estimates. Verify anything critical against primary records before you act on it.
We will not sell you a thin file
The free coverage check on the Coverage page shows the tracked window and coverage level before payment. Where a purchased report is later found to rest on insufficient evidence, the refund position is set out in our terms and conditions.
We are independent
The Aircraft Ledger is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to any aircraft manufacturer, operator, management company, broker, airport authority, registry or civil aviation regulator.
Registrations, type designations, manufacturer names and airport codes appear here for identification only. All trade marks and product names are the property of their respective owners, and their appearance implies no relationship or endorsement in either direction.
What you may do with a report
Reports, the analysis and scoring behind them, this site and the TailCheck and The Aircraft Ledger names are owned by Magic Lagoon Ltd or its licensors. Purchasing a report buys you a licence to use it, not ownership of it.
That licence, including the limited right to share a report with your own advisers and counterparties in a single transaction, is set out in section 5 of the terms and conditions. Republishing reports, reselling them, or using them to train models or build a competing dataset is not permitted.

The limits of our responsibility
We are not liable for decisions taken on the basis of a report, for losses arising from gaps or errors in observed data, or for indirect or consequential loss including lost profit, lost transactions or reputational harm.
Where liability cannot lawfully be excluded — including for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by negligence — nothing here limits it. The financial cap that applies to paid reports is set out in section 9 of the terms and conditions.
